Women in the business world: International Day of Women Entrepreneurs

November 19 – International Day of Women Entrepreneurs

It has only been 11 years! This international day has existed since 2013, somewhat recognizing and somewhat celebrating the outstanding role and contribution of women entrepreneurs to the economy and society. This day creates an opportunity to draw attention to the challenges faced by businesses founded and led by women. At INCON-LOGISTIC Ltd., the company leader and owner is also a woman, Kriszta, who is an inspiring example of female entrepreneurial spirit. Moreover, INCON initially consisted solely of female members, with women’s strength driving the company forward.

WEDO (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization) was founded by Wendy Diamond in 2013. Wendy recognized the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and the necessity of promoting gender equality, thus WEDO has become a catalyst for positive change. WEDO’s mission is to create opportunities, break down barriers, and elevate women entrepreneurs. Part of their work has shown that today it is proven: the transformative power of women-owned businesses is significant.

“Our movement was founded with a mission to bring awareness to girls living in poverty worldwide and empower women across the globe! By celebrating, supporting, and uplifting women entrepreneurs worldwide, we’re creating a more equitable world for women through the power of entrepreneurship.” – WEDO

Women-led businesses are not only business successes but also sources of inspiration that create hopes and opportunities for the women members of society. And there is a great need for this, as women’s employment is still hindered by numerous challenges today. Wage gaps, glass ceilings at leadership levels, the dilemma of having children vs. career, prejudices, and stereotypes.

“Enterprises led by Women benefiting from the Single Market” – Event

What is it like to be a female leader at the helm of an EU business? The event was connected to the international day and Hungary’s ongoing EU presidency, and the organizers were curious about our practices as well.

Kriszta Gyulai spoke about the recipe of INCON-LOGISTIC, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, at the conference titled “Enterprises led by Women benefiting from the Single Market” in Budapest. Welcoming remarks were made by Sándorné Demján on behalf of VOSZ, and sitting to Kriszta’s right during the roundtable discussion was Szandra Sándor, who is elevating the Hungarian fashion industry to an international level (Nanushka). The topic included whether there are distinctive differences between female and male leadership styles, as well as the opportunities and areas for development within the EU internal market. We thank the SEED Foundation for the invitation; it was a pleasant afternoon, and according to feedback, it was also useful for the audience!

“The event was truly inspiring, with many female participants in the audience. The questions were thought-provoking and worthy of further contemplation. Several familiar faces from the SEED Foundation and the VOSZ community smiled back at me. During the lunch, I naturally conversed with the panelists as if we had known each other for a thousand years. It was uplifting to share my thoughts with the audience from across Europe. At the end of the roundtable discussion, I had the opportunity to talk with several guests from the audience. I was able to exchange many business cards, which holds the potential for further collaboration.” – Kriszta

This was a great honor for INCON-LOGISTIC Ltd.! We hope to participate in many more events like this in the future!
