INCON-LOGISTIC Ltd. and Africa
The foundation of every successful business is teamwork, and a well-planned team-building day can further strengthen those bonds. On Saturday, we gathered in Kincsek Völgye (the Valley of Treasures) in Bálványos to embark on an imaginary journey to Africa. This post is about our experiences there, so read on!
The journey from the INCON office to the Valley of Treasures was an adventure in itself and upon entering the house, we were immediately greeted by the delightful scent of spicy incense. Marianna and Lamine welcomed us with music. Lamine played a well-known African instrument, the kora.
We kicked off the day with a delicious, authentic African coffee to give us the energy we needed for our first task, which was to create painted candle holders from African gourds. We got to work on designing and decorating, but soon we were in for a surprise: our completed work was taken over by other colleagues. The rotation was repeated later on, so in the end, true community creations emerged.
While our creations were drying, we started the next activity, where we made our own Sekere (rattle). After that, we enjoyed lunch together, prepared for us by Marianna and Lamine.
Following our shared and authentic lunch, we continued decorating the gourds: we finished the decorated pieces and drilled holes into them so that the candles could shine through beautifully.
We also tested out the rattle gourds we had made and played a song together. Finally, we practiced and performed a concert using African drums.
